The Facility

The Land

Situated on a 55,000 m² plot, the facility will feature a 9,000 m² built-up area, developed in phases. Phase I establishes core infrastructure. The design has tacit Greek FDA approval, integrating GMP standards. It includes indoor cultivation with enclosed greenhouses, precise climate control, and HEPA-filtered HVAC systems to minimize contamination.

The Soil

Cannabis, like any agricultural crop grown, requires the optimal balance of nutrients and soil pH. With hydroponics, nutrient uptake and the increase in oxygen content in the soil can be easily controlled. Various soil insulations such as rockwool, coconut fiber and peat moss are used in hydroponics in order to aid in root growth and nutrient uptake. All the nutrients are supplied via the nutrient solution-fertilizer which is diluted in water.

The Climate

Optimal daytime temperatures for the growth of medicinal cannabis are between 20°-30° Celsius. With the majority of the average monthly temperatures in selected area ranging between 15°C – 30°C, the climate allows for the existence of ideal conditions for the cultivation of cannabis plants.

Water & Humidity

Water quality is an important and determining factor in hydroponic cultivation. Water is the main “carrier” in hydroponics as it dissolves and then transports nutrients to plants. However, the water must always have the same purity in order to avoid having any deviations in the soil quality thereby resulting in problems in the cultivation of the cannabis. Controlled humidity in greenhouses is achieved with water sprays as well as dehumidifiers, which in combination with sensors, regulate the desired range of humidity.

Location

It has been proven that the Greek climate offers significant advantages to the production of superior quality medicinal cannabis at a lower cost vs other locations. Our facility is located in the state of Achaia, Greece, chosen for its ideal microclimate combining a large amount of solar radiation with high quality ground water. Its proximity to Patra also provides the benefit of reduced shipping costs for both maritime (Patra’s port) and air transport (Araxos International Airport).
